The U-boat Memorial, located at the "Moltenorter Schanze" in Heikendorf/Mönkeberg 
near the city of Kiel, is dedicated to the memory of the submariners of the German 
Navies who did not return from the sea. It is a place of silence and remembrance. 

Here, the names of more than 35,000 submariners killed in two world wars are 
engraved on bronze plates. Submariners who lost their lives on U-boats during 
peacetime are also remembered.
